Thunderpick Targets US eSports Market with Unique Social Betting Platform

eSports betting operator Thunderpick is looking to bring its unique social betting platform to the United States after the removal of regulatory obstacles earlier this year.

eCOGRA explain why ICE London is ‘the one show that cannot be missed’

The organisation is the latest to make the transition from visitor to exhibitor. CEO Shaun McCallaghan explains what success will look like in London.
What is it about ICE London that makes the event so important?
ICE is widely recognised throughout the industry as the one show that cannot be missed and eCOGRA has been present as a visitor at every edition for the past 15 years.  We’ll be exhibiting for the first time in 2019, which is a very exciting prospect for our senior management and business development team that will be representing eCOGRA.
In layman’s terms, can you explain the business proposition and what success looks like?
Our objective is to engage with industry players that operate across multiple licensing jurisdictions, which take compliance seriously – this includes many organisations that are typically present at ICE.  ICE represents a unique opportunity for us to have face-to-face contact with many of our existing clients present at the show from all over the world.  We are looking forward to reflecting on activities from the past year and better understanding our clients’ future plans.  We are also expecting to create greater awareness of our organisation amongst new market entrants, as ICE is so well attended by the industry.
Which gaming sectors and jurisdictions are you targeting and why?
We are focused only on online gambling, which has enabled us to become highly specialised and experienced in all aspects of regulatory compliance in this sector of the industry.  The jurisdictions we target are those that require the services of independent and professional auditors and testing laboratories for the technical certification of licensees.  We are also firmly committed to servicing our clients in each of the regulated markets where they choose to license their online gambling products.
Why 2019? What was the impetus for your company to exhibit at ICE London at this time?
Due to continuous growth within our company and the significant number of our staff attending ICE, in order for us to manage back-to-back client meetings, it really just made sense for us to get a dedicated visible space which ensures that we have a working environment that is conducive to comfortable and productive meetings.
What sets you apart: is anyone else doing anything similar to your knowledge?
Since we focus only on online gambling, we consider ourselves experts in this particular field.  We are able to offer the most comprehensive suite of auditing services that an operator or software supplier licensed across multiple highly regulated jurisdictions would typically require.  eCOGRA is the only testing laboratory that is authorised to offer operators and service providers accredited ISO/IEC 27001 certifications for Information Security Management Systems. We are also the only laboratory that is approved to provide Alternative Dispute Resolution services as required by operators licensed in Great Britain and Malta.
As a first time exhibitor, what are you most looking forward to?
We are looking forward to being able to offer a comfortable meeting place for our existing clients and we’re excited about engaging with new people who are simply interested in what we do.  We also expect our first-time experience of exhibiting will provide us with a great opportunity to see how we can enhance our presence at future ICE shows.

Global Gaming granted licence in Sweden’s new regulated market

Global Gaming’s subsidiary SafeEnt Ltd was awarded a five-year casino (Ninja Casino and SpelLandet) and sportsbook licence from the Swedish Gambling Authority (Lotteriinspektionen) today.

International Association of Gaming Advisors (IAGA) announces 2018 Bybee Scholarship winners

The International Association of Gaming Advisors (IAGA) announced today the recipients of the 2018 Shannon Bybee Scholarship Award, an annual program that awards prizes for the best scholarly research papers written on relevant gaming topics by accredited law school students as part of their class work during the school year. Annual submissions are solicited from law students in North American law schools and judged by a committee of IAGA member attorneys practicing gaming law. The 2018 scholarship recipients are:

Inducted into the American Gaming Association’s Hall of Fame in 2002 because of his significant contributions to responsible gaming, Bybee also played an important role in the development of problem gambling regulations and advocacy.

There are three stages to the British Casino Awards; the first of being the entry and nomination stage, where manufacturers and operators are invited to enter into any of the relevant categories using the online form available on the Awards website. They can also nominate other companies and individuals for any of the categories, using the same simple online form. The deadline for entries and nominations is Friday, 30 November.
The decision-making stage of the Awards scheme will begin on Monday, 10 December – when members of the industry will be invited to submit their votes using a secure online form.  At this point, all entrants are recommended to encourage staff and relevant industry bodies to support the entered organisation, product or people by casting their vote. The online vote will produce five finalists and ultimately one winner, the recipient of the highest number of votes overall.
Only selected categories will be put through to the voting stage, while others, including the National Casino Forum Diversity and Inclusion Award; the Corporate Training Investment Award; the Rising Star Award; CHIPS Community Engagement Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be reviewed by a specially-selected panel of judges.
Finalists for all categories will be announced on 17 December 2018, before the winners are revealed at The British Casino Awards ceremony taking place in London on Tuesday 5 February 2019.
At its inaugural event, The British Casino Awards raised funds for CHIPS and has pledged to continue its support for the charity at the 2019 edition. The charity, which raises funds to purchase specialised powered wheelchairs for disabled children, has also put its name to the Community Engagement Award. MGM Springfield chooses Gasser Chair company

Gorgeous Gasser chairs dominate at the new Massachusetts casino resort.
Magnificent casino properties require magnificent furnishings to maximize their customers’ experience. Youngstown, OH-based Gasser Chair Company (Gasser) is now part of that experience at the new $960 million MGM Springfield in Springfield, Massachusetts. Spanning three downtown city blocks, MGM Resorts International opened its 14-acre casino hotel and resort on Friday, August 24.
After securing the orders in late 2017, totaling more than 5,000 chairs, the last of the 16 truckloads of Gasser furniture was delivered to the property on July 31. Gasser professionals worked closely with the MGM Development Team and their outside design firm, Friedmutter Design Group of Las Vegas. Together, they developed custom seating solutions that fused Gasser’s legendary workmanship with the unique design elements desired for this project.
Through comprehensive planning, this creative coalition designed and produced truly unique, chic and innovative seating options. Gasser manufactured all 5,000-plus chairs at its Youngstown campus. Almost 3,000 custom Gasser chairs are located at every slot machine and table game position on the 125,000-square-foot casino floor.Each gaming area featuresits own distinctive chair design.
Gasser Business Development Manager Shawn Danks claims, “MGM Springfield was a great opportunity for Gasser to really showcase our custom manufacturing capabilities.  All of these products feature some level of customization, from detailed upholstery treatments on existing models to completely new, custom products developed from the ground up. AGS Names Laura Olson-Reyes Vice President of Marketing & Communications

Before that, she served more than seven years as the Senior Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Bally Technologies, where she led a team that won 30 awards for marketing and communications excellence, overseeing product marketing, corporate communications, and community relations.
Olson-Reyes’ gaming and technology industry experience also includes marketing roles with gaming operators Caesars Entertainment and Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Print Journalism from the University of Montana.

NRT Accelerates Growth through Acquisition of Casino ATM Portfolio

Acquisition includes 1,500 high-volume casino ATMs and self-service devices which dispense over $5 billion annually across nearly 200 gaming properties in the United States. As a result of the acquisition, NRT now operates over 31,000 ATM devices which process more than 300 million transactions and dispense more than $20 billion annually.
NRT Technologies Inc, has acquired the gaming ATM assets of U.S. Bank National Association. Fifth Third Bank acted as NRT’s lead arranger of a bank syndicate that includes Capital One, CIBC, and Umpqua Bank, for financing of the transaction. Terms of the agreement are not disclosed.
NRT is a global technology leader of next generation payment systems, specialized financial/marketing self-serve kiosks, and digital and mobile experiences for the gaming industry. Through this acquisition, NRT now supports ATM processing on ATM’s and TITO Redemption Units (TRU’s) across nearly 300 gaming properties in the United States. NRT is now the largest ATM processor in the North America casino market, providing mission critical services to more than 750 gaming clients, including the top 25 largest global gaming operators.
In partnership with Diebold Nixdorf, NRT will be making important upgrades to the acquired ATM fleet with new state-of-the-art ATMs that will not only support traditional ATM and cash advance functions, but also provide mobile engagement through Sightline Play+ and card-less ATM features. NRT and Diebold Nixdorf have an existing partnership with the world’s largest mobility provider, Kony Inc., which will enable a unified and highly personalized mobile guest experience across NRT’s growing portfolio of gaming ATM and TRU devices.
As part of the transaction, NRT has secured an expanded vault cash facility ensuring high cash availability to meet the rigorous cash withdrawal demands of NRT’s gaming operator customers.

Hippodrome London adds second Evolution Dual Play Roulette table

Evolution Gaming, leading provider of Live Casino solutions, has announced that it is to launch a second multi-camera Dual Play Roulette table at London’s famous Hippodrome Casino, with go-live scheduled for Q3 2018.

Scientific Games Will Support Delaware Lottery In First U.S. Full- Scale Sports Betting Expansion After PASPA Ruling

Scientific Games Corporation  have announced that the Company will implement the Delaware Lottery’s expansion to full-scale sports betting following the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturn of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) of 1992 on May 14, 2018.
Delaware is the first U.S. state to add full-scale sports betting after the PASPA ruling. The state previously offered legal sports betting on professional football and has now expanded its offering to other sports. As the Delaware Lottery’s sports betting provider, Scientific Games is supporting the expansion to full-scale sports betting with its industry leading integrated sports wagering technology, content and managed services.

London’s Hippodrome seals deal for Channing Tatum’s Magic Mike Live

The Hippodrome Casino has announced it has signed a deal to bring  Channing Tatum’s  hit Las Vegas show ‘Magic Mike Live’ to the venue from November 2018.
 
The deal will see the Hippodrome Casino’s cabaret theatre – which earlier this year hosted the British Casino Awards – close for a three-month, multi-million pound refurbishment and re-open for previews on November 10th with a new seating capacity of 325, for ten performances each week (Tuesday-Sunday). The staging will incorporate sophisticated lighting,  sound, video and automation technology that rivals anything else in the capital, while also maintaining a uniquely intimate performance environment.
 
Conceived and co-directed by Channing Tatum, the show, which opened to rave reviews in March 2017 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, is a large-scale, live production based on the hit films Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL.
 
The audience will enter The Hippodrome through a bespoke entrance on Cranbourn Street into a specially-curated lounge and bar experience; and from there into Magic Mike’s mythical Club ‘Domina’ where a group of predominantly male artists will perform a 360-degree dance and acrobatic spectacular including sexy dance routines intertwined with one-of-a-kind acts.
