PlayOJO launches responsible gambling campaign in Sweden

 PlayOJO, the fair online casino powered by SkillOnNet, has switched on a massive new TV, radio and digital advertising campaign in Sweden with a focus on responsible gambling.

Irish Licence and Further Expansion on the Cards for Mansion Group

It’s often cited as one of the realities of Brexit that there is a blurring of the lines between Irish and British business. In fact, there is such crossover that one almost assumes a brand available in the UK will simultaneously be trading in Ireland. Indeed, it’s difficult to think of major UK casino or betting brands that do not also have a presence in Ireland.
So, it may have come as a surprise to some that Mansion Group – the gaming group behind Mansion Casino, Casino.com Slots Heaven and MansionBet – has made its first foray into the Irish market this summer. An announcement of Mansion Group’s licence was made in late May 2019, with the Gibraltar-based business announcing just before Ireland played Gibraltar in a EURO 2020 qualifier, which Mansion sponsored.
Irish gaming laws to get upgrade
It enters the Irish market at an interesting time. While the betting and iGaming industry flourishes on the Emerald Isle, there is a concerted push by the Irish government to update the archaic gambling laws in the country. Much of the legislation in Ireland is actually derived from the 1931 Betting Act and the Gaming and Lotteries Act of 1956. Much of the gaming machine laws, for example, are designed with seaside arcades and penny slots in mind.
Mansion has wide recognition in the UK, currently sponsoring Premier League club Bournemouth and formerly sponsoring of Tottenham Hotspur. The group has won several awards, including “Most Responsible Online Gambling Operator” at the Capital Finance International Awards 2018 and “Online Casino Operator of the Year” at the International Gaming Awards 2018. The former accolade should stand the group in good stead as Ireland’s new gaming laws intend to put player protections and operator responsibility to the fore.

Further expansion for Mansion Group
It has been a good year for Mansion Group, which enjoys a loyal fanbase of casino players and punters. When we tried the live version of Casino.com, we were pleased to find a slick, well rounded live dealer platform powered by Playtech. However, the company has also struck a deal with Microgaming, and has offered a range of that developer’s top titles since May 2019. Other software providers found prominently on Mansion’s platforms include NetEnt, Red Tiger Gaming and Blueprint Gaming.
Mansion Group has been forthright in its assertion that entering the market in Ireland means trying to find a seat at the table among established competitors, but it’s a challenge the company seems to relish. Indeed, Ireland does not seem to be the final frontier for Mansion Group, and further international expansion has been mooted.
Of course, when any gaming group speaks of international expansion at the moment, America is the first word on people’s lips. Up to 39 states could feasibly have online sports betting and casino sites in the coming years after the Supreme Court decision on sports betting last year. Already, states like New Jersey have seen swathes of European gaming operators enter the legal online sportsbook and casino market. It isn’t yet abundantly clear if Mansion Group intends to follow that pathway, or if it will concentrate on extending its presence in Europe, Canada and Australasia.

Maverick Gaming Announces Purchase of Roman

Maverick Gaming LLC have announced the signing of a definitive purchase agreement to buy Roman Casino located in Renton Washington.

Mayfair Casino Ltd acquires Clermont Club

Mayfair Casino Ltd has announced the acquisition of Clermont Leisure (UK) Ltd located at No 44 Berkeley Square, formerly the Clermont Club.
The club, which has been closed since March 2018, will be refurbished and relaunched in early 2020.
The acquisition is in line with Mayfair Casino’s long-term plans to expand its footprint in London. This becomes Mayfair Casino Ltd’s second property in the city, following last year’s acquisition of Napoleons Casino on Leicester Square, which re-opened as Horizons Casino in July.
A spokesperson for Mayfair Casino says: “We’re very happy to have added such a well-respected and historical brand to our portfolio and will now focus on a smooth transition period before we begin on rebranding and refurbishing the property. It’s a very exciting time for Mayfair Casino Ltd.”
The Grade I listed building is the only surviving townhouse designed by William Kent, built between 1742 and 1745. Since 1950, the address has been a private member’s club and casino.

Her role at YGAM is  to build, develop and implement the organisation’s marketing and communications across all channels, help drive the highly successful YGAM Workshops and Student and University Engagement Programme as well as supporting partnerships with commercial organisations operating in the gaming and gambling space.

Esports levels up at ICE London as European expansion beckons, states Sparks CEO, Dina Niron

The ongoing expansion of esports across the globe was evident at this year’s ICE London, the world’s biggest gaming technology event, with a dedicated focus on the sector across the ICE VOX conference agenda, world class teams competing live on the showfloor and leading companies from established and emerging markets driving esports into its next phase from the London show.  Leading industry advisor and former CEO of Playtech subsidiary Juego Online, Dina Niron, who took part in the ‘Esports: The esports ecosystem in 2019 – What you need to know’ panel at this year’s ICE VOX at ExCeL London, believes the sector is only just getting started and the industry’s relatively new focus on esports wagering will be ripe for expansion as regulation across Europe continues to grow.
Discussing why esports had such an enhanced presence at ICE London and why the event is the ideal place to determine the future of emerging industry trends, she explained: “ICE London was a great opportunity to interact and share my experience and views of the expected growth of esports with leading esports business owners, management and professionals.  This year especially, the growing interest in this sector was very obvious.”

BetVictor broadens greyhound product offering with SIS partnership

Leading multi-channel supplier SIS (Sports Information Services) has reached an agreement with BetVictor, one of Europe’s leading online gambling companies, to provide the company with British and Irish greyhound content.
The deal significantly strengthens BetVictor’s greyhound offering, with the operator now having access to over 33,000 races per year, streamed from 8 am to 10 pm UK time.
The greyhound content consists of more than 53 meetings per week from British tracks including Central Park, Crayford, Doncaster, Harlow, Henlow, Hove, Monmore and Romford, as well as Irish action from Curraheen Park, Kilcohan Park, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mullingar, Tralee and Youghal.
Delivered in a “Bet and Watch” format, the new service allows BetVictor to offer regular short-form betting events to its fast-growing customer base, providing them with engaging betting content designed to increase engagement and dwell time.

Wire Act’s enforcement has been pushed back

The DoJ has further delayed the enforcement of its revised opinion of the Wire Act, which involves all forms of online gambling.
The US Department of Justice (DoJ) recently revised its opinion on the Wire Act and expanded its reach to all forms of gambling. However, the body has delayed its enforcement, in order to give operators time to readapt their operations.
According to a DoJ spokesperson, as reported by GamblingCompliance, the deadline has been pushed back from April 15 to mid-June. The reinterpretation of the Wire Act, which would impact on sports betting and other forms of online gambling, was issued in January and generated major criticism from the industry.
The iDEA Growth trade association, which advocates the expansion of iGaming, has announced it has filed a lawsuit against it, becoming the latest to do so. “We trust that the New Hampshire Court will give appropriate weight to judicial precedent over political factors in making its decision, a decision sure to have a major impact on a fast-growing industry poised to offer significant economic benefits to states across the country,” Jeff Ifra, the lead attorney in the suit, said.
Previously, the American Gaming Association (AGA), released a statement signed by senior vice president of public affairs Sara Slane in response to the new opinion and said that “it is unfortunate that the Department of Justice departed from well-established practice in reversing its previous opinion without a compelling reason to do so.”
