While the poker world is looking at Las Vegas, two other major poker tournament organisers have announced some big news. WPT announces first ever-event in Australia The Star Gold CoastThe World Poker Tour has announced a partnership with The Star Gold Coast Casino Queensland and the first WPT ever to be held in Australia. The full WPT Australia festival will take place from 27th September to 7th October, with a total of 10 events on the schedule and buy-ins ranging from A$330 to A$5,000. The WPT Main Event buy-in is A$2,500. “The Star Gold Coast and the nation of Australia welcome the World Poker Tour to our home for what is a monumental partnership,” said Geoff Hogg, Managing Director Queensland, The Star Gold Coast. Angelica Hael, VP of Global Tour Management for the World Poker Tour, added, “The World Poker Tour is proud to add WPT Australia to our roster of wonderful global events and The Star Gold Coast as a casino partner. As a native Australian, I am thrilled to have a WPT event take place in my home country and even more pleased to have it hosted at such a wonderful property.” The Star Gold Coast itself is worth a visit after a $850 million transformation with its award-winning restaurants and bars, world-class gaming facilities, and an on-site theatre. And if you haven’t heard, Australia’s Gold Coast is pretty amazing, too, with or without poker. No more April Fools from Triton Poker: £1 million event confirmed The one you’ve all been waiting for… THE BIGGEST BUY-IN IN TELEVISED POKER HISTORY Full Details: https://t.co/1uHnFcUWoQ pic.twitter.com/6Pjnd4qx7x — Triton Poker (@tritonpoker) May 24, 2019 For a while it had been a rumour and then it had been an April Fools joke, but now it is reality! Triton Poker finally announced details for the biggest buy-in tournament in poker history. As part of the Triton High Roller Series in London later this year (31st July to 8th August), a £1 million charity tournament will be organised. Of course, there have been 1-million buy-in tourneys before, the $1 Million Big One For One Drop and the €1 Million Monte-Carlo One Drop Extravaganza, but as this one is in British Pounds, it is essentially ~$1.260.000 and so the biggest buy-in tournament that ever was. There is not too much information on the event just yet. But a hyped video alongside the dates has been posted on the Triton website. We’ll eagerly await more details that are hopefully coming soon.
